Bostilwalkedintothevillage,grimlyconsciousthatthepresenceoftheIndiansandridersandhorses,theactionandcolorandbustle,thenearapproachofthegreatrace-day——thesethingsthatinformeryearshadbroughthimkeendelightandspeculation——hadsomehowlosttheirtang。Hehadchanged。
