Nevertheless,itseemedtoCissyAppleby,asshecrossedtheplaza,averywelcomechangefromWestWoodlands。Althoughthelatewinterrainshadceasedamonthago,——afewdaysaftertherevivalistpreacherhadleft,——thewoodsaroundthechapelwerestillsoddenandheavy,andthethreatenedimprovementinitssitehadnottakenplace。Neitherhadthepreacherhimselfalludedtoitagain;hiseveningsermon——theonlyotheronehepreachedthere——
wasunexciting,andhehad,infact,leftWestWoodlandswithoutanydisplayofthatextraordinaryexhortatoryfacultyforwhichhewasfamous。YetCissy,inspiteofherenjoymentofthedry,hotMission,rememberedhim,andalsorecalled,albeitpoutingly,hisbluntsuggestingthatshewas"piningforit。”Nevertheless,shewouldliketohavesungforhimHERE——supposingitwaspossibletoconceiveofaSidonBrotherhoodChapelattheMission。Itwasagreatpity,shethought,thattheSidonBrotherhoodandtheFranciscanBrotherhoodwerenotmorebrotherlyTOWARDSEACHOTHER。
