Inthisentiresectionwehavediscussedonlytheturnoversofthecirculatingcapital,notthoseofthefixed,forthesimplereasonthatthequestionatissuehasnothingtodowithfixedcapital。Theinstrumentsoflabour,etc。,employedintheprocessofproductionformonlyfixedcapital,inasmuchastheirtimeofemploymentexceedstheperiodofturnoverofthecirculatingcapital;inasmuchastheperiodoftimeduringwhichtheseinstrumentsoflabourcontinuetoserveinperpetuallyrepeatedlabour-processesisgreaterthantheperiodofturnoverofthecirculatingcapital,andhenceequaltothenperiodsofturnoverofthecirculatingcapital。Regardlessofwhetherthetotaltimerepresentedbythesenperiodsofturnoverofthecirculatingcapitalislongerorshorter,thatportionoftheproductivecapitalwhichwasadvancedforthistimeinfixedcapitalisnotadvancedanewduringitscourse。Itcontinuesitsfunctionsinitsolduse-form。

Thedifferenceismerelythis:Inproportiontothevaryinglengthofasingleworkingperiodofeachperiodofturnoverofthecirculatingcapital,thefixedcapitalgivesupagreaterorsmallerpartofitsoriginalvaluetotheproductofthatworkingperiod,andproportionallytothedurationofthecirculationtimeofeachperiodofturnoverthisvalue-partofthefixedcapitalgivenuptotheproductreturnsquickerorslowerinmoney-form。Thenatureofthesubjectwearediscussinginthissection——theturnoverofthecirculatingportionofproductivecapital——derivesfromtheverynatureofthisportion。Thecirculatingcapitalemployedinaworkingperiodcannotbeappliedinanewworkingperioduntilithascompleteditsturnover,untilithasbeentransformedintocommodity-capital,fromthatintomoney-capital,andfromthatbackintoproductivecapital。
